FAQs & Guides
Common questions about flight training
How long does PPL training take?
PPL training typically takes 6-8 months, depending on weather, student availability, and proficiency. The CAAP minimum requirement is 40 flight hours, but most students complete around 55-65 hours.
What happens if weather cancels a flight?
Weather-cancelled flights are rescheduled at no extra cost. Your child's account is only charged for actual flight time (Hobbs time), never for cancelled or weather-delayed sessions.
How is my child's safety ensured?
Every flight requires an IMSAFE self-assessment, aircraft airworthiness check, weather verification, and instructor approval. No flight is dispatched without all safety checks passing.
Can I watch my child fly?
Yes! Parents are welcome to observe from the school's viewing area. For solo flights, you can track your child's aircraft position through the school's live flight tracking system.
What if my child fails a check ride?
A failed check ride is not uncommon and simply means additional training is needed. The school will create a remedial training plan and schedule a re-test, usually within 2-4 weeks.
